"Extremely Dangerous"

"Extremely Dangerous" Category 4 hurricane

Once again I must plead my case for ‘power lines going underground?

I know that ‘Power Company Employees do not want the lines underground and for some very good reasons and a few other reasons?

Back when I was working I have seen many old buildings with power piping from 'build to build' underground and have seen and heard what happens once they get old!

However; the operative word is (Piping)!

Those power-line pipes were run using lead, iron and/or steel pipes

with

lead, iron and/or steel fittings!

Today we think nothing of

Natural Gas Companies running their piping,

with thousands of pounds of pressure

under streets, buildings and across state borders!

Why?

Because these companies are using modern pipes held together with modern glues.

Polyethylene gas piping systems are specifically engineered and certified for the underground environment.

All of the work is in safety panels above ground.

Power lines can be run through another much thicker pipe for protection and safety.

Hurricane Laura was a Category 4 storm an

Hatch Act,

(Aug. 2, 1939; amended July 1940), measure enacted by the U.S. Congress, aimed at eliminating corrupt practices in national elections. It was sponsored by Senator Carl Hatch of New Mexico following disclosures that Works Progress Administration officials were using their positions to win votes for the Democratic Party.

The Hatch Act forbade intimidation or bribery of voters and restricted political-campaign activities by federal employees. As amended, it also severely limited contributions by individuals to political campaigns and spending by campaign committees. https://www.britannica.com/topic/Hatch-Act-United-States-1939

The Hatch Act Reform Amendments of 1993

permit most federal employees to take an active part in partisan political management and partisan political campaigns.

While federal employees are still prohibited from seeking public office in partisan elections, most employees are free to work, while off duty, on the partisan campaigns of the candidates of their choice.

Coal workers before unions?

https://daily.jstor.org/coal-miners-unions/

In 1886 700,000 workers were ‘White’

and

60,000 were ‘Black’!

Unlike other labor unions, the Knights of Labor encouraged blacks to join!

https://tcmag.wordpress.com/2011/02/25/before-there-were-unions-by-v-lyn/

By 1886, membership in the Knights of Labor had swollen to 700,000 workers

and stood as a champion for the unskilled laborer.

Unlike other labor unions, the Knights of Labor encouraged blacks to join, so that by 1886, approximately 60,000 blacks had become members.

Why does the Electoral College still exist

First Electoral College law?

Four Republicans

Why does the Electoral College still exist, despite its contentious origins and awkward fit with modern politics?

The party in power typically benefits from the existence of the Electoral College; the minority party has little chance of changing the system because a constitutional amendment requires a two-thirds supermajority in Congress plus ratification by three-fourths of the states.

"All four cheaters were republicans"!

Rutherford B. Hayes

The Republican governor of Ohio

Tilden won 184 electoral votes — one shy of the number needed to win — to Hayes’ 165 votes. However, the election was riddled with voter fraud and suppression in the post-Civil War south. After the election, the validity of the votes in Louisiana, Florida, South Carolina and Oregon was challenged.

Benjamin Harrison (1888)

The election of Benjamin Harrison, an Indiana Senator and Republican, over Democratic President Grover Cleveland was also riddled by corruption. Both parties were accused of using “floaters”

George W. Bush

It took 112 years for there to be another election where the victor won fewer popular votes. In 2000, Vice President Al Gore took on George W. Bush, the governor of Texas and the son of the 41st President. Bush won 271 electoral votes to Gore’s 266 votes, but Gore won 500,000 more popular votes.

The election was so close in Oregon and New Mexico that the victor wasn’t called for a few days, but the real test came in Florida. The race was so close that Florida law required the votes to be recounted, and then the Florida Supreme Court further ordered that ballots in four counties needed to be counted again. However, on Dec. 12, 2000, the U.S. Supreme Court voted 5 to 4 that the Florida Supreme Court’s ruling was unconstitutional because not counting ballots by uniform methods violates the 14th Amendment’s Equal Protection Clause.

trump

Taking in 304 electoral votes to Clinton’s 227 votes.

However, Clinton took in 2.8 million more popular votes.

While the full impact of the election remains to be seen, it quickly generated conversation — especially among Democrats — about changing the Electoral College.

Clinton had called for the abolition of the Electoral College after Gore’s 2000 loss. She reiterated this position after her own defeat.

Homes explode in Baltimore

This is not a joke because this is not funny!
However;
I must keep reminding my readers of the Gas Companies slogan?
“Clean, Safe Natural Gas”
Gas, gasoline, propane, oil all are not clean and time and time again this is proven with heartbreaking results!
Forty Years working as a, service technician believe me I know!
Gas both Natural and L.P. Propane has no smell so without help you will not know that you have a leak

until ‘Saint Peter’ tells you!
Homes explode in Baltimore, killing 1 and injuring 3 others
By Elizabeth Joseph, Alec Snyder and Eric Levenson, CNN
August 10, 2020
(CNN)One woman died and three people were hospitalized in serious condition after a major explosion in a residential area of Baltimore, according to Blair Adams, Public Information Officer for the Baltimore City Fire Department. Three homes were reduced to rubble in a major gas explosion, Adams said. Officials are investigating the cause and crews are searching for people who might be trapped inside.
One reason natural gas is called “clean” is because it
emits 50 percent less carbon dioxide than coal when you burn
it.
Methanethiol /ˈmɛθeɪnˈθaɪɒl/
(also known as methyl mercaptan) is an organosulfur compound with the chemical formula CH. 4S.
It is a colorless gas with a distinctive putrid smell. It is a natural substance found in the blood and brain of humans and animals, as well as in plant tissues.

Early History of Congress Pay

How and what amount members of Congress should be paid has always been a debated issue.
America’s Founding Fathers believed that since congressmen would typically be well-off anyway, they should serve for free, out of a sense of duty. Under the Articles of Confederationif U.S. congressmen were paid at all, they were paid by the states they represented. The state legislatures adjusted their congressmen’s pay and could even suspend it completely if they became dissatisfied with them.
By the time the first U.S. Congress under the Constitution convened in 1789, members of both the House and Senate were paid $6 for each day there were actually in session, which was then rarely more than five months a year.
Senate Leader Mitch McConnell (net worth est. $22 million): During his 36 years of public service in Congress, our auditors calculated that McConnell earned $5.5 million in salary. McConnell’s salary ranged from $75,100 (1985) to today’s $193,400 – as the second highest paid member of Congress
trump's massive tax cut -- for the rich

From the 2013to 2017 republicans controlled the House of Representatives
From 2015 to 2017 the republicans controlled the house and the senate!
SO!
In 2017 trump and the trump republicans passed their tax relief bill, passed every bill on ‘Mitch McConnell’s desk,
hired their judges and trumps puppet (William Bear), in charge of the judicial branch of government
while the taxpaying public
and
the Democratic Party squealed from the pain in our pockets!!!!!
Today while the trump republicans are still in control of the senate and Mitch McConnell’s desk is collapsing
from the weight of bill from the house of representatives,
the taxpaying public and the Democratic Party are still squealed from the lack of concern of the republicans to their subjects!!!!
